Video: EL olor de Perú. Parte 1. Lima

Quiero disculparme de antemano por la calidad de las imágenes. No ha sido fácil. El equipo era extremadamente limitado y algunas zonas no siempre eran seguras. A pesar de todo quiero mostraros esta perspectiva de la ciudad de Lima. En taxi desde Villamaría del Triunfo hasta el centro urbano de Lima. El contraste de recursos económicos es abismal. Partimos desde una zona pobre en la que los mercados se improvisan a lo largo de la vía principal. Pasamos el gigantesco barrio de Surco donde conviven todo un abanico de familias: desde  casas de una sola planta a medio hacer hasta chalets de tres pisos con jardines cuidados.  Los skaters practican sus habilidades en Miraflores. El paseo marítimo permite ver un restaurante exclusivo rodeado por el océano Pacífico. De noche, el Parque de las Aguas ofrece un espectáculo de luces con sus fuentes coloridas. La tecnología del pudiente centro limeño contrasta con los alrededores de Villamaría del Triunfo. Subí a la azotea de un hotel y grabé esos «alrededores». Las luces que brillan a través de la neblina parecen más distantes cuando aprecias el barranco de oscuridad de las calles con gente sin recursos.

I want to apologize for the low quality of the images. It was very hard to take them. The cameras weren’t as good as I wanted and some places were not security enough. Despite all this, I wanted to show you this point of view of Lima. From Villamaría del Triunfo to the center of Lima in taxi. You can apreciate the big contrast of economic resources. We start in a poor area, where you can find improvised markets in the streets. We pass through the Surco area, where are living too many different families: from houses not built at all to chalets with three floors and preciouss gardens. Skaters are training in the Miraflores area.The sea front lets you see an exclusive restaurant surrounded by the Pacific ocean. At night, in the Parque de las Aguas is begining a lights show and colorful water fonts. The technology of the well-off heart of Lima  and the Villamaría environs are both sides of the coin. I went upstairs to the hotels roof in Villamaría del Triunfo and I recorded that «environ». The lights shining across the mist seem faraway when you apreciate the darkness of the middle: streets where live people without economic resources.
